Coordinating crisis response in the wake of the Kathmandu earthquak
When the Kathmandu earthquake struck, Cover-More faced the urgent challenge of protecting and evacuating its travellers in Nepal. Through our crisis response capability, Emcorp supported their medical team with a full-spectrum approach: guiding planning, logistics and security at every stage of the operation.
Our Disaster Assistance Response Team provided both in-country support and offshore monitoring, ensuring that decisions were informed, coordinated and adaptive to fast-changing conditions on the ground. Working in devastated environments that spanned across the country, we helped maintain safety and operational continuity for the medical team as they carried out their mission.
Cover-More ultimately distinguished itself as the only travel insurance company to send both a medical team and an aircraft into Nepal to bring travellers home. Emcorp’s role in facilitating this operation was critical, strengthening Cover-More’s ability to not only respond but to lead with decisive humanitarian action in a time of crisis.
